Do You Hear Me?
For some reason, today the Lord is allowing me to see words in a way I’ve never seen them before. Earlier today I saw the word ASKING. Immediately it hit me that there is power in our ASKING because when we do, we’re acknowledging Christ AS KING.
Just now, I was proofreading something for someone and noticed a typo in the word HEART. Once again, I noticed this word like I’ve never noticed it before. All the smaller words that make up the larger word, tells us so much.
We HEAR with our HEART. In 1 Kings 3:9a AMPC, Solomon said to God, “So give Your servant an understanding mind and a hearing heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and bad.” Did you catch that? It said a hearing heart. For many of us that might sound a little weird and cause us to question, “How can our hearts hear if it doesn’t have ears?” Well, that leads me to my next point.
We must have an EAR to HEAR. There are multiple places in the Bible where Jesus says, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” The simple fact that Jesus thought it important enough to distinguish between just earsand ears to hear, suggests to me that we can have ears and still not have ears to hear. It’s important that we realize that is possible to have natural ears on the side of our heads and hear natural things, and still not have the spiritual ears of our heart open to hear spiritual things. Which may prompt you to ask, “What should my spiritual ears be listening for?”
HE is the One we should be using our EAR to HEAR in our HEART. There’s a reason why the Bible instructs us to guard our heart. Guarding our heart is not about building up walls in an attempt to protect ourselves from being hurt. It’s more about being conscious of keeping the bad stuff out and keeping the good stuff in. It’s about silencing the lies of the enemy and amplifying the truth of God. God is Not Man, so, it’s not through our natural ears that the Father speaks to us. It’s through the ear of our heart that we hear Him.
A couple of weeks ago we asked the question, “Can You Love Me?” Well, now, let’s take it a step further. Instead of envisioning someone who lives in your household, picture God Himself standing before you. And His question to you is, “Do you hear Me?”
