Impact Makers

Making a significant impact in the lives of others does not have to be overwhelming and it does not have to be all-consuming. That being said, here are some of the things it does require:

Intentionality. In order to be impactful, you must be intentional. Deliberate and purposeful actions on your part will be necessary. You will rarely ever accidentally make a significant impact. If you want to be an Impact Maker, you must be intentional about doing so.

Maturity. Maturity has nothing to do with age. It has everything to do with your state of mind. The desire to make an impact and the consistency to be intentional about doing so requires a level of maturity that understands and appreciates its importance. If you truly want to be an Impact Maker, you might have some growing up to do.

Patience. Quite often, you won’t recognize the impact of your actions right away. It could be days, weeks, months, or even years before you realize the difference you made in someone’s life. In many situations, you won’t know the true impact you’ve made until you get to glory. So, if you have an insatiable need for immediate gratification, continuous applause, or expect a thank you for every little thing you do, you’ll be less of an Impact Maker and more of an attention chaser.

Attentiveness. Sometimes we’re asking God to open our eyes to see into the spiritual realm and we aren’t even effectively using our physical eyes to truly see in the natural realm. There are countless needs all around us that we continuously overlook. Impact Makers are attentively looking and listening for ways they can impact the life of someone around them.

Compassion. You want to know why Jesus made such an impact in the lives of the people He encountered while He walked on the earth? It’s because He had such compassion for them.

When he saw the crowds, He had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew 9:36)

Jesus saw the huge crowd as He stepped from the boat, and He had compassion on them and healed their sick. (Matthew 14:14)

Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with Me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way. (Matthew 15:32)

Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed Him. (Matthew 20:34)

If you want to be an Impact Maker for The Kingdom, you’re going to have to have compassion for the people.

Time. Intentionality may require some planning. Maturity will require development. Patience by definition involves waiting. Attentiveness necessitates a slowing down. Compassion is not just about how you feel – it’s about what you do. If each of these things are necessary to make an impact, then obviously being an Impact Maker is going to require some time.

Please don’t sit around and wait for some huge “opportunity” to come along before you begin to make a difference in the lives of the people around you. Even a small act can have a huge impact. So, what do you say? Are you ready to be an Impact Maker?
